Description:

These are two courses, back-to-back: a three-day introductory course, and a two-day specialized course. Students have to register to these courses separately

1. INTRODUCTION TO FOOD WEB MODELLING WITH ECOPATH WITH ECOSIM

2. ADVANCED SPATIAL - TEMPORAL MODELLING WITH ECOSPACE

The introductory course  will discuss basic concepts and modelling procedures of aquatic ecosystems using the Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) food web modeling approach. Participants will be provided with the principles behind EwE (http://www.ecopath.org), and how to design, parameterize and analyze an ecological model with Ecopath. Introductory concepts of the temporal module Ecosim and the spatial-temporal module Ecospace will be presented.

The specialized course will discuss in-depth principles of Ecospace, the spatial-temporal module of EwE. Special focus will be paid to the new Ecospace niche model and fisheries management
